Project saving and exporting are different
Use Save Project when you want to continue editing later. Use Export or Share when you need an output for another purpose.
Common formats
| Format | Best for | Restores complete project? | |---|---|---| | .ra | Save/resume editable RanchAssist work | Yes, for compatible tool/project | | PDF | Formal readable report | No | | Print | Paper or print-to-PDF record | No | | CSV | Spreadsheet analysis or tabular transfer | No | | PNG / Map | Visual record or image sharing | No | | GeoJSON | Spatial geometry interoperability | No | | Copy Summary | Texting, notes, messaging | No | | Email | Sending a polished summary | No |
What reports should include
Where applicable, RanchAssist reports include the tool name, project name, inputs, assumptions, calculations, key results, warnings or notes, and a timestamp. Mapping tools may also include a map image or feature summary.
Recommended recordkeeping pattern
For important projects, keep both:
- the
.raproject file for future editing; and - the relevant export for communication or records.
