When PNG is useful
Use an image export for a quick visual reference, presentation, message, or record of the current map or plan.
Mapping tools may include labels, route lines, geometry, legends, or other visual information that is easier to understand as an image than a table.
Before exporting
- Zoom and position the map so the important features are visible.
- Turn on the layers you want included.
- Check feature names and labels.
- Review any legend or map title.
Limitations
A PNG is a static image. It does not preserve editable geometry or project state. Save the .ra file for continued work and GeoJSON when you need spatial data interchange.
