What this tool does
Map one or more proposed fence runs and estimate materials, labor, equipment, delivery, and total project cost.
Use this tool when
- Planning a new fence line or replacement run.
- Comparing wire, post, brace, gate, or electric-fence configurations.
- Building a bill of materials before requesting prices or scheduling work.
Before you begin
Gather the project information you already know. Leave Optional or Advanced fields alone until you need them, and review every editable assumption before relying on the result.
Recommended workflow
1. Map the fence
Search or geolocate, draw editable fence segments, review segment and cumulative distance, and place gates where needed.
2. Configure wire
Choose the wire system, strand count, roll/spool length, unit price, and waste or reserve assumptions.
3. Configure posts and braces
Set post type, spacing, terminal-post costs, mixed-post ratios when needed, and brace configuration.
4. Add gates and electric components
Gate openings reduce wire footage and may add terminal/brace requirements. Electric mode adds energizer and grounding-related planning inputs.
5. Build the cost model
Enter material, labor, equipment, freight/delivery, tax, and contingency assumptions.
6. Review BOM and total
Inspect itemized quantities, extended costs, total project cost, and cost per foot.
Key results
- Mapped and net fence length.
- Wire footage and whole rolls/spools.
- Line posts and terminal posts.
- Brace requirements.
- Gate quantities and openings.
- Electric-fence components when enabled.
- Materials, labor, equipment/delivery, tax, contingency, total, and cost/foot.
Save, export, and share
For meaningful work, use Save Project to create a .ra file before leaving. Use Export for reports/data and Share for email or copied summaries. The exact export formats available depend on the tool.
Important planning note
Fence quantities and costs are planning estimates. Terrain, construction methods, local labor, soil, materials, and real installation conditions can materially change the final project.
