What RanchAssist is

RanchAssist is a collection of standalone ranch-planning utilities for common field and office tasks such as mapping, estimating materials and costs, planning feed and water, comparing livestock scenarios, and preparing operational reports.

Each tool is designed to be independently useful. You do not need a RanchAssist account to begin working in a standalone tool.

What to expect in most tools

Although each tool solves a different problem, RanchAssist uses a consistent pattern:

1. Start with the primary inputs. Enter the information you know about the ranch, herd, project, route, field, or equipment.
2. Review assumptions. Many calculations depend on editable planning assumptions. Treat example values as starting points, not recommendations.
3. Use Advanced Settings only when needed. Secondary inputs are kept out of the main workflow so common tasks stay fast.
4. Review the key result first. The most important output is presented prominently, followed by supporting breakdowns.
5. Open Calculation Details when available. This shows the formula, inputs, assumptions, rounding rules, and derived values used by the tool.
6. Save or export before leaving. Stateful tools can save complete editable work as a RanchAssist .ra project file. Reports and data exports are separate from project saving.

Your work is session-first

RanchAssist does not permanently store standalone project data by default. The active browser session may use sessionStorage to protect work from an accidental refresh or same-tab navigation, but this is not long-term cloud storage.

For stateful tools, use Save Project to create a local .ra file if you want to continue later.

Planning estimates, not guarantees

RanchAssist is designed to make assumptions and calculations easier to inspect. Outputs are planning estimates. Actual field conditions, prices, animal requirements, equipment performance, weather, regulations, labels, engineering requirements, and other real-world factors may differ.
