Route miles versus billable miles
The mapped route is not always the same as the mileage a carrier bills. The pricing method may use loaded miles, total miles, deadhead, round trip, or a base fee plus mileage.
Load estimates
The calculator uses user-editable square-feet/head assumptions and trailer information to estimate capacity and number of loads. Actual safe/legal loading must be verified with the carrier and applicable requirements.
Additional charges
Include fees that materially affect the quote, such as minimums, fuel surcharge, waiting time, loading/unloading, overnight, tolls, washout/bedding, or other charges.
Compare like with like
When comparing carrier quotes, normalize what each quote includes. A lower mileage rate may not be cheaper if another quote includes fees that the first quote adds separately.
Shrink
Optional shrink is a user-entered scenario used to estimate delivered pay weight. It is not a guaranteed shrink rate.
