What this tool does
Draw pastures and exclusions on a map to calculate gross acreage, exclusions, net measured acres, adjusted usable acres, and perimeter.
Use this tool when
- Measuring one or more operational pasture areas.
- Subtracting ponds, barns/lots, timber, rock, crop, conservation, or other no-graze areas.
- Preparing acreage and perimeter figures for planning rather than legal surveying.
Before you begin
Gather the project information you already know. Leave Optional or Advanced fields alone until you need them, and review every editable assumption before relying on the result.
Recommended workflow
1. Locate the property
Use satellite imagery, place/address search, geolocation, and map controls to reach the working area.
2. Draw pasture polygons
Create and name one or more editable pasture boundaries.
3. Draw exclusions
Add internal exclusion polygons for areas that should not count toward net measured acreage.
4. Add adjustments
Enter optional brush/timber, slope, or inaccessible-area adjustments where the tool supports them.
5. Review pasture table
Compare gross area, exclusions, net area, adjusted usable area, and perimeter by pasture.
6. Export the result
Use map image, PDF/Print, CSV, GeoJSON, Copy Summary, or Email as appropriate.
Key results
- Gross acreage by pasture.
- Excluded acreage.
- Net measured acreage.
- Adjusted usable acreage.
- Perimeter.
- Percent usable.
- Project totals across pastures.
Save, export, and share
For meaningful work, use Save Project to create a .ra file before leaving. Use Export for reports/data and Share for email or copied summaries. The exact export formats available depend on the tool.
Important planning note
Mapped boundaries and measurements are operational planning measurements and are not a legal survey or a substitute for a licensed surveyor.
