Duplicate a RanchAssist Project

Why duplicate instead of simply saving again

Save Project preserves the same project lineage. Duplicate Project creates a new project lineage with a new UUID while copying the current editable state.

Use Duplicate Project when you want to branch the work intentionally—for example:

  • compare an alternate fence configuration;
  • create a second winter-feed plan;
  • preserve a base cattle-profit model before changing assumptions;
  • reuse a ranch map as the starting point for a separate planning case.

Recommended workflow

  1. Open the source project.
  2. Review the state you want to carry forward.
  3. Select Duplicate Project.
  4. Give the duplicate a distinct project name when practical.
  5. Make the changes for the new scenario.
  6. Save the duplicate as its own .ra file.

The original saved .ra file is not modified by this action.
