When to save
Save whenever recreating the work would be inconvenient—for example, after drawing map geometry, building scenarios, entering a long cost model, arranging a rotation, or preparing a detailed inventory or schedule.
Save your project
- Confirm the current project name if the tool provides one.
- Select Save Project from the header or Project menu.
- RanchAssist collects and validates the editable project state.
- The project file is created with the
.raextension. - Save or download the file using your browser or device controls.
- Keep the active project open if you want to continue working.
What happens to the project ID
Saving preserves the existing project UUID. This lets RanchAssist recognize the file as the same project lineage even if you save updated copies over time.
Saved versus unsaved changes
A stateful tool may show Saved or Unsaved changes. Browser session recovery does not count as a permanent save. If you want to continue later, create a .ra file.
Browser filename behavior
Browsers do not always overwrite an existing local file. You may see filenames such as North_Pasture_Fence_2.ra when saving another copy. This is normal and does not create cloud storage.
Verify important saves
For high-effort projects, a practical check is to save the .ra file, confirm it appears in your device files, and keep at least one prior copy until you know the newest file opens correctly.
