Session Recovery and Unsaved Work

Active-session recovery

RanchAssist may use sessionStorage to protect current work from an accidental refresh, same-tab navigation, or brief interruption during the active browser session.

This is a resilience feature, not permanent storage.

What can end session recovery

Session behavior varies by browser and device. Closing the relevant browsing session, clearing browser data, using private browsing, or device/browser cleanup can remove session state.

For that reason, do not rely on session recovery as your only copy of important work.

Unsaved changes

If a tool shows Unsaved changes, create a .ra file before leaving if you want to continue later.

Before leaving a project

For meaningful work:

  1. Save a .ra project file.
  2. Export any report or data file you need for records or sharing.
  3. Confirm the files exist on your device.
  4. Then close the tool or clear the session.
