Getting Started with Sprayer Calculator

What this tool does

Calculate tank mixes, field coverage, sprayer calibration, refills, product quantities, and application cost per acre.

Use this tool when

  • Turning a label rate into per-project and per-tank quantities.
  • Calculating acres per tank and number of refills.
  • Checking gallons per acre from sprayer speed/nozzle output.
  • Building a user-entered application cost estimate.

Before you begin

Gather the project information you already know. Leave Optional or Advanced fields alone until you need them, and review every editable assumption before relying on the result.

Recommended workflow

1. Choose a mode

Use Mix Calculator, Coverage Calculator, Sprayer Calibration, or Cost Per Acre.

2. Enter field and tank information

For mix/coverage work, enter acres, target GPA, and tank size.

3. Enter product label rates

Add repeatable product rows using the rate and units taken from the controlling product label.

4. Calibrate when needed

Use boom width or nozzle spacing/count, travel speed, and nozzle output or a catch test to calculate GPA.

5. Review refill and partial-tank amounts

Check full tank count plus exact water/product amount for the last partial tank.

6. Review cost and export

Add container prices, labor/equipment/fuel as needed and export a mix sheet, CSV, summary, email, or per-tank instruction card.

Key results

  • Total carrier volume.
  • Total product quantity.
  • Product per tank.
  • Full tank count.
  • Partial-last-tank water and product.
  • Acres per tank.
  • Gpa from calibration.
  • Acres/hour and carrier/hour.
  • Tank duration.
  • Product cost/acre.
  • Total job cost and cost/acre.

Save, export, and share

For meaningful work, use Save Project to create a .ra file before leaving. Use Export for reports/data and Share for email or copied summaries. The exact export formats available depend on the tool.

Important planning note

The pesticide or herbicide label is the controlling source for legal rate, PPE, restrictions, re-entry, grazing/haying intervals, environmental precautions, and tank-mixing requirements. RanchAssist does not recommend products or off-label rates; users must enter the label rate themselves.
